The majority who lived in the 80s know this song. The song is Waiting For A Girl Like You by Foreigner an absolute 80s classic. But here’s a truly brilliant bit of audiovisual storytelling, for anyone eagle-eyed eared enough to pick up on it. Steve is not the focus here: it is Nancy in her scene, and Barb in hers. The audience is immediately uncomfortable, because the spliced editing hammers home the breakdown of Nancy and Barb’s friendship, the breakdown of their trust. The scene has many meanings, most overtly the juxta-positioning of Barb being brutally murdered by an unknown entity contrasting with Nancy ditching her friend and losing her virginity.
